GOLD

Gold steadied in early Asian trade on Tuesday, but was just off a one-month low after tumbling about 2 percent in the previous session as hedge funds sold down amid expectations of higher U.S. interest rates.

U.S.MARKET UPDATE

U.S. stocks fell on Monday, with some of the market's recent best performers like technology and biotech shares leading the way down.
Concerns that the crisis in Ukraine could escalate gave investors a reason to drop some of the market's biggest trading favourites. The Nasdaq fell below its 50-day moving average earlier, in a sign of weakening near-term momentum.

ASIAN STOCKS

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS rose 0.9 percent, recouping a large chunk of its losses the previous day, with Australian shares gaining on strong local employment data.

U.S.STOCKS

U.S. stocks finished little changed on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq up for the first session in five, as investors grappled with the evolving situation in Ukraine but shrugged off concern over weakness in China's economy.

U.S.TREASURIES

U.S. Treasuries prices rose in safe-haven bids on Wednesday on worries over the health of China's economy, which helped fuel strong demand at the U.S. government's 10-year Treasury note auction.

FTSE

Britain's top share index fell to a one-month low on Wednesday, led down by G4S after the security firm agreed a settlement with the government over an offenders' tagging scandal.

NIKKEI

Japan's Nikkei share average edged up on Thursday morning after falling to a one-week low on the previous day as strong machinery data supported sentiment as far as metal shares, which remained pressured on persistent concern about Chinese demand.

NYMEX CRUDE

NYMEX-U.S. crude holds around $98 as focus on supply risks

U.S.CRUDE

U.S. crude gained 11 cents to $98.10, after settling $2.04 weaker at $97.99, below the 50-day movingaverage of $98.32.

BRENT CRUDE

Brent crude rose 24 cents to $108.26 by 0203 GMT, after ending 53 cents down to its lowest in a week.

COPPER

Shanghai and London copper futures regained strength on Thursday after plunging to multi-year lows in the previous session but concerns about China's economic slowdown could cap gains as investors await a fresh batch of data.

PLATINUM

Platinum was up 0.8 percent at $1,469 an ounce

SILVER

In other precious metals, silver gained 2.1 percent to $21.25 an ounce.

SPDR GOLD

SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings fell 1.50 tonnes to 811.20 tonnes on Wednesday.

U.S.GOLD

U.S. COMEX gold futures for April delivery settled up $23.80 at $1,370.50 an ounce.

SPOT GOLD

Spot gold gained 1.3 percent to $1,367.04 an ounce by 1:59 p.m. EDT (1759 GMT), having reached $1,370.60, the loftiest since Sept. 20.

GOLD

Gold was trading near its highest level in six months on Thursday as investors sought to hedge their bets against geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and economic slowdown fears in China.

ASIAN STOCKS

Asian stock markets were set to turn lower on Wednesday as economic uncertainty in China and the United States combined with political tensions in Ukraine to keep investors sidelined

U.S.STOCKS

US stocks fell on Tuesday, with selling picking up late in the session, as investors cashed in some of the recent market gains, but the S&P 500 finished less than 1 percent away from a record high set last week.

U.S.TREASURIES

U.S. Treasuries prices edged higher on Tuesday, with concern about geopolitical tensions in Russia and Ukraine and weakness in China's economy spurring some demand for safe-haven bonds.’

FTSE

The blue-chip FTSE 100 index closed 0.06 percent lower at 6,685.52 points after falling to 6,660.59, its lowest since the middle of February. It fell in the previous two sessions on lingering tensions between Ukraine and Russia and on concerns about China's economic growth.

NIKKEI

Japan's Nikkei share average slid more than 2 percent on Wednesday as investors locked in profits after a recent rally to a five-week high, while a stronger yen hit overall sentiment and dragged down exporters like Toyota Motor.

YEN

The yen held onto gains early on Wednesday while investors kept their distance from risk currencies such as the Australian dollar amid worries about China's economic health and following a late fall on Wall Street.
