COPPER

London copper slipped on Tuesday from one-week highs hit the session before, as traders showed caution ahead of expected major policy announcements from top consumer China.

PLATINUM

Platinum dropped 0.7 percent to $1,428.99 an ounce,

SPOT SILVER

Spot silver fell 0.4 percent to $21.37 an ounce.

U.S.GOLD

U.S. Comex gold futures for December settled down $3.50 at $1,281.10 an ounce, with trading volume about 45 percent below its 250-day average, preliminary Reuters data showed.

SPOT GOLD

Spot gold eased 0.1 percent to $1,281.56 an ounce by 0026 GMT. It has been trading below $1,300 since Friday and has fallen about 3 percent in the last four sessions.

GOLD

Gold was stuck below $1,300 on Tuesday, trading near a 3-1/2 week trough as investors fretted over the timing of the Fed's stimulus tapering and as physical demand was not strong enough to provide a floor to prices. 

U.S.STOCK MARKET UPDATE

US stocks edged up on Monday, lifting the Dow to another record closing high in light volume on Veterans Day while investors turned their focus to how soon the Federal Reserve may begin reducing stimulus.
The Dow Jones industrial average advanced 21.32 points, or 0.14 percent, to 15,783.10, a record closing high. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index added just 1.28 points, or 0.07 percent, to finish at 1,771.89. The Nasdaq Composite Index inched up only 0.56 of a point, or 0.01 percent, to close at 3,919.79.

ASIAN STOCKS

Asian shares edged away from a four-week low on Monday, and the dollar rose against the euro and yen as a surprise surge in U.S. jobs growth signalled the world's largest economy was on a firmer footing.

U.S.STOCKS

U.S. stocks rose on Friday, rebounding from the previous session's selloff, after an unexpectedly strong payrolls report lent weight to views the world's largest economy is stronger than previously thought.

U.S.TREASURIES

Ten-year benchmark US10YT=RR note prices slid 1-10/32 while yields shot up to 2.75 percent from 2.60 percent on the outlook that the Fed could trim bond purchases sooner than March 2014.

FTSE

With Friday's advance, The Dow and S&P 500 recorded their fifth straight week of gains. For the week, the Dow rose 0.9 percent and the S&P 500 index rose 0.5 percent. The Nasdaq fell 0.1 percent for the week.

NIKKEI

Japan's Nikkei share average jumped 1.3 percent on Monday morning, rebounding from the previous session's selloff after an unexpectedly strong U.S. jobs report put to bed any lingering concerns about the pace of economic recovery.

DOLLAR

The dollar index last traded at 81.289, holding on to most of Friday's 0.6 percent gains after a closely watched report showed employers added 204,000 new jobs to their payrolls last month, soundly beating forecasts for 125,000 jobs.

U.S.CRUDE

U.S. crude for December delivery was 12 cents higher at $94.72 per barrel at 0028 GMT. The contract had closed 40 cents higher on Friday.

BRENT CRUDE

Brent was up 45 cents at $105.59 per barrel, after settling $1.66 per barrel higher on Friday.

LME COPPER

Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange CMCU3 edged up 0.3 percent to $7,184 a tonne by 0121 GMT, extending small gains from the previous session.

COPPER

Copper steadied on Monday after last week logging its biggest weekly fall in two months, as a revival in U.S. jobs growth burnished hopes for recovery in the world's top economy and brightened the outlook for demand.

SPOT GOLD

Spot gold XAU= fell 0.2 percent to $1,286.19 an ounce by 0020 GMT. It lost 1.7 percent on Friday - the metal's biggest one-day drop in more than a month.

Gold eased on Monday to trade near three-week lows after an unexpectedly strong U.S. jobs report reignited fears the Federal Reserve could begin scaling back its support for the economy soon.

ASIAN STOCKS

Asian markets suffered a glancing blow on Thursday after the U.S. Federal Reserve's latest policy outlook was deemed less dovish than some had wagered on, lifting both bond yields and the dollar.
