The US markets close mixed, hovering around the flat line for most of the day, amid a lack of major economic news as investors wait on the sidelines ahead of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s speech later this week. Despite the lackluster trading session, all three major indexes are poised to log their first August gains since 2009. Nasdaq was supported by Apple finishing marginally higher.
Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.25% or 33.3 points at 13124.67. Nasdaq Composite was up 0.11% or 3.4 points at 3073.19. Standard & Poor’s 500 was down 0.05% or 0.69 points at 1410.44.
