U.S. stocks sold off in late trading to close sharply lower
on Friday, with the S&P 500 posting consecutive weekly losses for the first
time since November, as investors retreated after a seven-month run of
gains.
The Dow Jones industrial average slid 208.96 points, or 1.36
percent, to close at 15,115.57. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 23.67
points, or 1.43 percent, to finish at 1,630.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell
35.38 points, or 1.01 percent, to end at 3,455.91.
